In Asia we have offices in India, Nepal, China, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia and Vietnam with programme presence in Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Our Asia regional office is located in Bangkok, Thailand.
ActionAid started its engagement in Cambodia in 2000 as a new country initiative from the ActionAid International Regional Office in Bangkok. ActionAid Cambodia started its full-fledged country programme since July 2004 and is formally registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January 19, 2005.
We partner with Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), NGOs, social movements, people's organisation and activists and critically engage with governments, international organisations and private companies to ensure pro-poor policies, programmes and practices. Our innovative program, social mobilisation and policy advocacy work focuses on issues of women's rights, food security, education, governance, human security in conflict and emergencies and HIV/AIDS.
Our Objectives:
We partner with 15 long-term partners in most inaccessible and underdeveloped provinces out of 21 provinces and one municipality (Phnom Penh). The strategic priorities of work in DA/ DI focus on issues of women's rights, rights to food, life with dignity on the face of HIV/ AIDS, just and democratic governance and rights to education. Under each of these themes our interventions will focus on five strategic objectives:
-
Addressing the immediate and pressing poverty needs of the most poor and marginalised people, individuals, women and children
-
Strengthening organisation and alliance of the poor and marginalised people with equal representation of all excluded groups, primarily women to work collectively to claim and use rights
-
Ensuring enforcement of rights particularly of women and girls to enable them to enjoy equal position and rights in the society
-
Strengthening pro-poor policies in favour of the poor and excluded communities, particularly the women to claim and enjoy rights
-
Diversifying resources through civil society engagements and ethical international partnership
