Reflect Training Workshop for Minority Women Facilitators

From May 8 to 14, ActionAid China, working in partnership with UNESCO Office Beijing, Yunnan Institute of Educational Science and Guangxi Foreign Capital Management Centre for Poverty Reduction, held a Reflect training workshop in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for minority women facilitators, as well as mentors and project coordinators of the programme.

The facilitators were from eight villages in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province. The workshop is part of a one-year pilot programme, aiming to build the capacity of village women in the two regions through adapting the Reflect approach in China.

In addition, the pilot programme also seeks to develop a support mechanism to ensure sustainability in the programme implementation, as well as to prepare for possible future expansion of the programme.

At the beginning of the workshop, the participants, especially the village women facilitators, expressed concern for their ability to grasp the Reflect concept and learn the tools for starting their Reflect circles. At the end of the workshop, the participants, especially the facilitators, were visibly more confident. They were delighted that they had the opportunity to learn many new and useful things through the workshop. The workshop has also strengthened their link with the county and provincial-level mentors and coordinators. In addition, it has bonded the project teams from the two provinces together, opening up more opportunity for mutual sharing and learning.

AAIC signed an agreement with the Foreign Capital Funds Management Centre, Leading Group of Poverty Alleviation under the State Council, a key government poverty reduction body, for a cooperation framework on a ceremony in South China's Guangxi on 31st May. More...
