Child Sponsorship and The Next Step are the main funding mechanisms of ActionAid Pakistan.

Child Sponsorship

The concept of Child Sponsorship is that of a link between an individual/supporter (usually in the North) with that of a child (in the South). This way, sponsorship provides an opportunity to the people of the North to participate in the process of development and to learn about the local development issues.  

Our sponsors: Over fourteen thousand individuals committed to support our development initiatives for a period of minimum of five years

To build and retain supporter's loyalty, sponsorship team ensures that each supporter receives two community reports, two child messages and one annual report from the area where his/ her supported child resides. This involves a lot of efforts and coordination with the field staff in our Development Areas (name given to the areas where ActionAid works) as well as with the staff in Funding Affiliate Countries (countries that generate funds).

The Next Step

This is the second stage of Sponsorship where the supporters who have previously supported a child (for a period of minimum of five years) transfer their support from a particular Development Area to the Country Programme as a whole. ActionAid Sponsorship team ensures that each supporter receives an annual report in addition to two inspiring case studies (called the Photo Packs) while describing the impact of our development initiatives.  

Recognition of our efforts- The STARR AWARD

The Sponsorship Team of ActionAid Pakistan is the recipient of two consecutive STARR Best Performance Awards for the years 2003 and 2004. The Award was initiated in 2003 and ActionAid Pakistan was selected from among the country programmes of the Asia Region. The Team won the award on the basis of overall performance in terms of timeliness, quality of reports and child messages, communication with the funding affiliates and submission of child profiles.

Trainings

In order to achieve and maintain smooth functioning of sponsorship activities, the ActionAid Pakistan's Sponsorship Team regularly conducts training to build the capacities of the field staff. The Annual Sponsorship Training is a regular feature where field staff from all the Development Areas is trained in Report Writing, Child Message Collection, Child Profile Collection and Photography etc.
