Meeting with Sheikh Baradri and their Problems

The Shiekh Bardri is living in AJK for the last 200 years but they have never been provided any sort of citizenship right. These people are the sanitation workers and are treated as ethnic minority. After the October 8th earthquake they didn’t receive any support neither from the Government nor from the development sector.

ActionAid provided shelter to these landless people on the Government owned land. ActionAid played a vital role in organizing and supporting these vulnerable groups to initiate their own rights movement in the area. While talking to the community ActionAid representatives stressed on included women in the planning process at all levels and that women should participate in the rights movement.

Meeting with Khilla Uttar

Khilla Uttar is a small village of total 60 families and ActionAid provided shelter to 52 families in the area. ActionAid is the only organization providing support in this village as no other government or Non-government organization is working in the area. ActionAid provided shelter, livestock (Buffalos and Goats), consumables, seeds (Maize) and blankets as well as cash grants to the affected families in this village.
