HIV/AIDS in Sri Lanka: Free of cost doesn't mean free of charge

Lanka Plus, the only registered HIV/AIDS positive peoples forum of Sri Lanka, has celebrated the World AIDS Day for the first time since they started as an organization thirteen years ago. In the event, supported by ActionAid, the organization has presented an appeal to the Government of Sri Lanka, previously handed to the Ministry of Health.

Sri Lanka to Stand Up Against Poverty and Demand National Action Plan for Youth Employment

More than 800 people in Colombo, Galle and Trincomalee stood up against poverty in Sri Lanka on October 16 as a part of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP). They joined millions of people in more than 100 countries around the world to add their voices to a 24-hour global call to demand world leaders to take action to end poverty and inequality.

Cows a better livelihood than manual labour, says 75 - Year - Old Sinnamma

Sinnamma and her four adult children are survivors of Sri Lanka's ongoing civil conflict, as well as survivors of the Indian Ocean tsunami which claimed their house and all their modest possessions. They are also a family that ActionAid has identified as in greatest need of support to help rebuild their lives.
