1. WORKING CONTEXT

Founded in the United Kingdom in 1972, AA is a secular and non political organisation working with over nine million of the poorest people majority of them living in the developing world in 42 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.  It is committed to improving the quality of life of the poorest and the most excluded people so that they can live a life of dignity.

Working towards this direction, since 1989, ActionAid International Vietnam (AAV) has been operating in nineteen provinces in mountainous and remote regions across Vietnam. AAV works in partnership with local partners in provinces and district levels.

2. JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

Ensures a stable and diversified funding base for ActionAid Vietnam Programmes

3. AUTHORITY

Makes decision within approved budget

Requires related departments and partners to ensure the agreement with donors and sponsors

Assigns tasks to staff in F&F department

 

4. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Management team, Finance team, All staff, AA Asia /AA International Partnership and Child Sponsorship Coordinators, Funding Countries Sponsorship Coordinators

AAV partners and communities, Government officials, Donors, INGOs

 

5. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Key responsibilities / accountabilities

Key performance indicators

1.       Participates in new DA selection

§         Appraisal package is reviewed/commented to make sure that new DA is selected in line with the set criteria

§         Child sponsorship is allocated in accordance with requirements

2.       Capacity building for partners

§         Training needs of partners are identified and addressed

§         The number of denied CM decreases to zero

§         At least three training courses are organized per year

§         Partners are well coached in proposal writing

3.       Participates and supports Asia Sponsorship Team

§         Positive comments and inputs are provided through STAR & SAM forum and sponsorship annual meeting

4.       Provides guidelines on planning for DAs

§         Sponsorship activities are in line with donors requirements and contractual commitments

§         Final check of DAs plan is provided

5.       Is responsible for contract negotiation and management

§         Contract with the value below USD 150,000 is well negotiated to ensure the compliance with AAVs direction and priority

6.       Donor influencing/ donor servicing

§         Meet at least one donor per month

§         Donors are directed to AAVs priorities

§         Sufficient information related to donor is gathered to make sure the quality of proposal

§         Sponsor visits are well organized

§         Sponsors satisfy with sponsorship activities carried out by AAV

§         Quality reports are submitted to sponsor and donors within deadline and in accordance with sponsors and donors requirements

§         Proposal bank and donor database is updated and kept track in a regular basis

7.       Shapes fund raising programs and strategies

§         Ensures the stable funding base for the organisation

8.       Manages F&F department

§         F&F activities are planed as per approved budget

§         Training and coaching are provided to staff

§         Ensure the smooth run of F&F function

9.       Participates in Management Team

§         Positive inputs and comments are provided to  for the formulation / update of AAV strategy,  policies and procedures

6. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education

§         University degree in social science/economic development or any relevant field

§         Preferably post-graduated

Work experience

§         5 year working experience in relevant field

§         Working experience with NGOs is preferable

Technical knowledge/skills

§         Development economics

§         Marketing and HR management

§         Contract negotiation

§         Report and proposal writing skills

Language

§         Advanced level of English

§         Immediate level of French/ Spanish or Italian  is preferable.
